SkyBoma dining experience launched in Etosha

Mokuti Etosha, part of O&L Leisure, has introduced SkyBoma – an 8m-high dining platform overlooking the Etosha landscape.

Described as Namibia’s first elevated bush dining experience, SkyBoma is inspired by the region’s natural features, including anthills and the Omayova mushroom.

“Every lodge has a boma,” explains Sven Thieme, O&L Leisure MD. “That’s why we said: Why don’t we build something that no one has? We moved it up eight metres and achieved the impossible. We can now see the Etosha Pan from here. This is the only elevated SkyBoma in the world and represents our belief that responsible tourism can also be luxurious.”

Set within Mokuti’s private reserve near the Etosha National Park gateway, SkyBoma offers panoramic views of the bush, a waterhole and King Fishers Pan. The dining experience features Namibian beef and game prepared over open flames alongside traditional ingredients such as Mopane worms and locally inspired desserts.

Menu highlights include mini seared chipotle game tacos, springbok loin with tamarind rub, Cape Malay lamb chops caramelised on fire, Mozambique peri-peri chokka seared on flames and the “flying buffet” during sundowners, which includes five to six small tasting dishes served on trays as “bush bites” before guests move to the main buffet experience.

The platform, built at a cost of N$26 million (US$1.5 million), involved Namibian architects, builders and craftspeople.

The SkyBoma experience is exclusive to in-house guests and must be booked in advance.
