Apex Shark Expeditions marked its 30th anniversary with the official launch of the 42-foot catamaran, Ceto, operating in False Bay.
Founded in 1996, the Cape Town-based operator offers shark cage diving, marine wildlife viewing and guided snorkelling experiences.
Ceto features a walk-around deck, premium seating, two toilets and hot showers with capacity for 24 guests on scheduled trips and up to 43 on private charters.
The vessel joins Apex’s existing 12-guest boat, White Pointer, expanding its capacity for private excursions, corporate groups and travel trade bookings.
Trips focus on the waters around Seal Island in False Bay where guests may encounter bronze whaler and seven gill sharks, seals, dolphins, whales, penguins and sea birds. Great white shark sightings are sporadic with encounters dependent on wildlife movements and sea conditions.
Guests can participate in cage diving or remain on board for surface wildlife viewing.
Owned and managed by Karyn Cooper, Apex also offers Great African Seaforest snorkelling and guided land tours across the Cape Peninsula.
