Baines’ Lodge, an A&K Sanctuary property in Botswana’s UNESCO-listed Okavango Delta, reopened in August following a full redesign.

The lodge, the smallest in the Sanctuary portfolio, now comprises six suites raised on stilts above the Boro River within a private concession bordering the Moremi Game Reserve. The suites are linked by wooden walkways and incorporate open-plan interiors with soft tones inspired by local flora, muted walls and timber finishes.

Communal spaces include the Explorer’s Lounge, a bush boutique and a swimming pool with the main lodge built around a dormant termite mound to preserve the natural ecosystem. The property operates entirely on solar power with a back-up generator.

Activities include twice-daily game drives, walking safaris, mokoro and motorboat excursions, depending on the season, as well as optional scenic helicopter flights. Night drives are available within the private concession.
