Lions Sands River Lodge, in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, Mpumalanga, reopened on May 1, following a fire that broke out last year that saw its public areas go up in flames.
River Lodge comprises 18 rooms, eight luxury rooms, six superior luxury rooms and four river suites. It can accommodate a total of 38 guests.

All eight luxury rooms have an en-suite bathroom, lounge area, mini bar and wooden deck. The six superior luxury rooms are larger and have open-plan bathrooms and outdoor showers, four of which are inter-leading, ideal for large groups or families. The four river suites are further from the public areas. They are more private and each has a private plunge pool, outdoor shower and views of the river. One of the river suites has two bedrooms and one bathroom.

Living spaces at the newly reopened lodge include a safari lounge, barista station with artisanal coffees, a gallery showcasing the works of renowned local artists and a OneLife More boutique.
The dining experience includes a traditional boma, signature riverbed dinners and deck dining in the shade of the trees and overlooking the Sabie River. Breakfast is a home-styled experience.
The lodge is suitable for disabled travellers with assistance and welcomes children aged ten and over.
There is free WiFi in the guest areas and a full range of dietary preferences are catered for.
