Tropic Helicopters has announced new helicopter excursions over Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru. The company says it will be the only operator to offer the service.
The Kilimanjaro flight includes a trip around Mawenzi Peak and a view of Kibo, the mountain’s highest peak. The trip also encompasses views of the glaciers at Reusch Crater before landing on the Southwest Shira Plateau.
“The flights highlight the vast diversity of the mountain’s six climatic zones. Landing at the Cathedral provides a wonderful perspective of Kili’s western face and overlooks a thick carpet of giant heather,” the company said in a statement.
The Mount Meru trip, in Arusha National Park, includes Afromontane forest views, a flight around the peak and a landing on Ash Cone before flying over the dormant volcano’s caldera and landing on the banks of Engare Nanyuki River.
The flights can be booked individually or combined. The recommended departure time is 07h00 with excursions lasting four to five hours.
