New trail run to showcase Eastern Cape landscapes

Great Zuurberg Trail Run will launch in June.

The Great Zuurberg Trek has introduced the Great Zuurberg Trail Run. The race will be run over three days and cover 60km of the Addo Elephant National Park in the Eastern Cape. The route includes tracks that cross the Zuurberg Mountains.

Organisers have limited participants to 60 teams of two members. Base camp for the race will be at the Zuurberg Mountain Village where participants can enjoy luxury hotel or tented accommodation and fine dining at the race village.

Managing Director of Hayterdale Trails and race organizer, Siska van der Bijl, notes: “Runners will pass a 2 000-year-old cycad, run through a beautiful alley of yellowwood trees and navigate some technical trails. The route is diverse and our races are unique. We believe our differentiators are our prestigious trails, high-end partners and discerning athletes.”

The Great Zuurberg Trail Run debuts on June 1. Entries are now open and start from R8 000 (€537) per team.
