New walking safaris for Volcano Safaris

Community and conservation activities aimed at increased visitor numbers.

Volcano Safaris has launched its Kyambura Gorge eco-tourism project, which is a series of community and conservation activities aimed at safeguarding the Kyambura Gorge eco-system, while acting as a drawcard for more tourists to the areas.

Praveen Moman, Founder of Volcanoes Safaris, said: “We have assembled four sites next to the Gorge to protect it: the Lodge, the Conservation Centre, the 3km buffer along the northern side, and the wetland which had an illegal brickworks.”

“We have also created a number of projects to support conservation and communities, and a number of new walking safaris,” he added.

The new measures in place will protect chimpanzees, wildlife and birds, and are aimed at increasing visitor numbers.
