East African luxury tour operator and DMC Nkuringo Safaris is expanding its presence in Uganda with a new lodge, upgraded guest offerings and community projects.
Due to open in early 2026, Ziwa Mirima Lodge, will be located on the shores of Lake Nyamirima in Kibale Forest. The eco-lodge will feature 10 rooms while offering activities such as chimp trekking.
At Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge, the company has added five Luxury Forest Suites with floor-to-ceiling glass windows and rebuilt and refurbished six Deluxe Garden Rooms. The property will also be phasing out its Standard Garden Cottage by January 2026, as part of its shift towards premium, purpose-driven travel.
Operations hub
In December 2024, Nkuringo opened a new operations hub in Entebbe, which now serves as a central meeting point for guests. The hub also hosts the company’s vehicle fleet, including six new, fully customised Land Cruisers and two safari vans for airport transfers.
Community centre
This month, Nkuringo will also open the doors to the Robert Brierley Community Centre. Built under the Gorilla Junction Foundation, the centre will offer programmes in hospitality, tailoring, digital literacy, health awareness and entrepreneurship.
