A police operation in and around the Midrand and Kempton Park areas is expected to affect travel to OR Tambo International Airport from 19h00 today (February 19) to 04h00 tomorrow (February 20).
Travellers should not be unduly alarmed by the sounds of gunfire, explosions and sirens. The authorities will be conducting a simulation exercise, testing their abilities to react to emergency situations such as hostage-taking and hijacking.
Travellers can expect a substantial security force and emergency service presence.
