Restoring Maputo’s coastline

Peace Parks Foundation and Maputo National Park are restoring degraded coastal dunes in the park by removing invasive plant species and reintroducing indigenous vegetation.

The restoration project aims to rebuild the area’s natural coastal defences by restoring the area’s natural ecological baseline. Healthy dune ecosystems help protect biodiversity, reduce the impacts of climate change and support the livelihoods of coastal communities.
