SA Express almost set for take-off

SA Express's AMO certificate has been reinstated.

The South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) has reinstated SA Express’s (SAX) Aircraft Maintenance Organisation certification (AMO) and work has begun on readying its aircraft to return to the skies.

SAX acting CEO, Matsietsi Mokholo said: “The CAA is walking this journey of recertification with us and we have just successfully passed phase one; our Aircraft Maintenance Organisation certification has been reinstated. We have commitment and goodwill from important stakeholders and we are working closely with Bombardier in maintaining our fleet. The airline has also ensured that extra checks are undertaken in order to ensure the indefeasibility of the airline’s equipment, new schedule and processes.”

The recently appointed SA Express board has briefed the Minister of Public Enterprises, Pravin Gordhan, on progress since the grounding. “The SA Express Board, Ministerial Intervention Team, together with loyal staff, have made very significant progress to return the airline to full operation in the very near future,” said the Minister.
