South African National Parks (SANParks) is increasing its conservation fees from November 1 in all its national parks. All funds generated from this fee will go towards SANParks’ primary mandate to oversee conservation in South Africa.
Rey Thakhuli, General Manager of PR and Stakeholder Relations at SANParks says: “The parks managed by SANParks that protect rhino populations will have a marginally higher increase in the annual conservation fee to assist with the rising operational costs of anti-poaching activities. The conservation fee therefore includes a portion dedicated to rhino conservation at these parks.”
Fee increases vary from park to park, and in some cases, certain sections of the park have varying fees as well. Key changes for international visitors include:
- Boulders will now cost R152 (€9) for adults, R76 (€4,50) for children under 12.
- Addo Elephant National Park will now cost R307 (€18) for adults, R154 (€9) for children under 12.
- Kruger National Park will now cost R372 (€22) for adults, R186 (€11) for children under 12.
