The Spirit of Kirinyaga – Saving the Mountain Bongo is a short documentary directed by Matthieu Chardon and filmed at the Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy (MKWC). The documentary showcases the collective efforts of experts at MKWC to bring mountain bongos back from extinction.
Coordinated breeding programmes, which serve as a feeder to the conservancy’s rewilding programme, are targeting a population of 750 mountain bongos by 2050.
