Seychelles sees growth in cruise calls

The 2025/26 Seychelles cruise season ended with a 17% increase in cruise ship calls.

The cruise season came to a close at the end of last June with a total of 41 cruise ship calls, up from 35 in the previous season, with eight maiden calls and several new cruise operators visiting the destination for the first time.

The season also marked a shift in the Seychelles cruise tourism strategy. To mitigate potential negative environmental and social impacts, the Seychelles Tourism Department prioritised smaller, premium and expedition vessels over mass market cruise traffic. The strategy includes upgrades to port infrastructure, stronger environmental safeguards and greater involvement of local businesses in the cruise value chain with the aim of increasing the benefits of tourism for local communities.
