Zanzibar to launch first tourism show

Zanzibar Tourism Show to kick-off in October.

Zanzibar’s Minister of Information, Tourism and Archives, Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, has announced the inaugural Zanzibar Tourism Show.

Set to take place from October 17-20, the show will be the first of its kind in the region.

Speaking to Tanzania’s Daily News, Kombo said the show would be the ultimate business event for the domestic and international tourism industry. Organisers are expecting over 150 exhibitors, and visitors can expect to meet players from all sectors of Zanzibar’s tourism industry, network with industry professionals, attend seminars and talks, and experience the island’s culture and hospitality for themselves.

The Zanzibar Tourism Awards will also take place during the event. Kombo added: “We’ll honour outstanding individuals, organisations and institutions working innovatively with local cultures, communities and destinations on both Islands of Pemba and Unguja.” Kombo hopes these awards will encourage and inspire professionalism and innovation in the tourism industry.
