UK-based organisation Starlight Global, recently conducted a familiarisation tour of 35 Jamaican tourism players to Zimbabwe, in collaboration with the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA).
The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of US-based organisation, Capitor, has partnered with the ZTA to drive traffic from source markets including the US, UK, Jamaica and Canada, through initiatives such as this familiarisation tour.
The Jamaican operators were immersed in some of the highlights that Zimbabwe has to offer, including Hwange National Park, Matopos and Victoria Falls. Shanice Lindsay, Director of Starlight Global, said the tour was intended to offer insights into Zimbabwe’s popular attractions.
"We are positive about the growth prospects of Zimbabwe's tourism industry,” said Lindsay. “There is a need to unlock the potential and, going forward, we will deepen our partnership with the ZTA in promoting destination Zimbabwe." She further pledged Starlight Global’s resolve to work closely with the ZTA in boosting tourist traffic into Zimbabwe.
