Airlink denied Safair acquisition

The Competition Commission has denied Airlink proposed acquisition of Safair

Airlink and Safair have learnt that the Competition Commission has not approved the proposed acquisition of Safair by Airlink.

Airlink says it respectfully disagrees with the decision and the points raised by the Commission as justification for its decision. It will approach the Competition Tribunal for an opportunity to address the concerns of the Commission – predominantly airline operational technical matters – and hopes to have the Tribunal reconsider the application.

Airlink says it firmly believes the proposed transaction will be beneficial, not only for the two companies, but for their customers, employees, suppliers, the local and regional air transport markets as well as the broader South African economy.
