&Beyond has completed an extensive five-month renovation of its family villa at &Beyond Ngala Safari Lodge in South Africa’s Ngala Private Game Reserve, which borders the Kruger National Park.
The former family suite has been rebuilt into an exclusive-use villa for up to six guests. The layout includes two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and outdoor showers as well as a third en-suite room for children. All rooms open onto the seasonal Mapone River with rock-clad walls added for increased privacy.
Shared living spaces include a sitting and dining area with a wood-burning fireplace and a centrally positioned private swimming pool. Guests are supported by a dedicated butler, private safari vehicle, ranger and tracker team.
&Beyond MD for South Africa Lodges Kevin Pretorius said: “Our vision for the family villa was to deepen its sense of place by intentionally creating a better space for friends and family to be able to connect in a homely type of environment.”
The interiors, designed with Fox Browne Creative, incorporate sage greens, weathered timbers and restored antique furnishings inspired by the Kruger Lowveld.
The villa’s reopening is part of broader upgrades at Ngala Safari Lodge. Additional work completed includes the conversion of the old bar into a wine cellar, a new bar on the tea deck and improvements to the boma. A refurbished massage sala and new gym will be completed later this month.
