A hill climb is a form of motorsport where drivers race individually against the clock on an uphill course. In this case, Philip Kgosana Drive will be closed and converted into a 1.8km race route with a 150m elevation gain. More than 140 vehicles, ranging from historical to modern racing cars and supercars, are expected to compete.

The format follows international events such as the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK and the Pikes Peak Hill Climb in the US.
