The results of our latest poll indicate a widespread belief that car rental companies are not doing enough to warn self-drive tourists of high-risk routes to avoid when travelling to and from Cape Town International Airport.
When asked whether car rental companies could do more to warn tourists, an overwhelming 94% of readers said “Yes”. Just 5% said “No” while the remaining 1% were “Unsure”.
SATSA Transport Committee Chair Onne Vegter previously described a “glaring and lamentable” weakness from car rental companies in dealing with the issue.
“Why do rental agencies provide no guidance or safety tips for international visitors upon arrival? In my view, the car rental agencies are derelict in their moral obligation to help fight this and keep their customers safe,” Vegter commented.
