FedAir expands with new regional schedule

FedAir has announced a major expansion of its Lowveld operations, introducing a dedicated regional schedule from mid-May 2026 to enhance connectivity between key access airports and lodge airstrips.

The new six-aircraft schedule will link Kruger Mpumalanga International, Skukuza and Hoedspruit with almost all major lodge airstrips in the region.

The development aims to reduce road transfer times and improve guest movement across the Lowveld. FedAir will maintain its two-stop maximum policy on shared services and expand its fleet with two new Cessna Caravan EX aircraft arriving at the end of the first quarter of 2026.

New lounge facilities will also be introduced at Kruger, Skukuza and Hoedspruit airports – modelled on the airline’s Johannesburg private lounge.

Existing routes remain unchanged including:

  • Daily flights between Johannesburg and Singita, Londolozi, MalaMala, Ulusaba and Arathusa
  • Daily direct services between Kruger International and Phinda
  • Double-daily Madikwe flights and daily Marataba services

Any destinations not covered in the revised Lowveld schedule will continue to be served via the daily Lowveld Flexi service.

FedAir will shift to a limited seat inventory model and introduce zonal fares for Lowveld travel. A new X-Class fare category will allow guests to travel with one large hardshell bag (up to 32kg and 158cm total dimensions) – limited to four seats per flight. Complimentary baggage storage at Johannesburg and Kruger International will remain available.

The launch of a new reservation system is planned for the first quarter of 2026 with integration options for partners. Existing bookings that align with the new schedule may benefit from revised fare structures.

“We’re reimagining safari logistics for guests,” said Jarryd Prince, FedAir’s Chief Commercial Officer. “By expanding our regional presence and investing in modern aircraft and smarter systems, we’re ensuring that our partners and their guests experience the reliability, flexibility and service excellence that have always defined FedAir.”
