Attractions Africa Conference will be held on June 6-7 at Gold Reef City in Johannesburg. The two-day event is designed especially for visitor attraction professionals.
The conference provides an opportunity for attractions professional at every level to participate, learn and network, giving them a chance to share challenges and provide solutions.
Attractions Africa was founded in 2014 by Sabine Lehmann who used to work for Table Mountain Aerial Cableway. When she left to work with Zeitz MOCAA in Cape Town. she realised that attractions professionals around the globe were meeting to share knowledge and best practice, however no such meetings existed in Africa. She then set about rallying professionals from across South Africa to focus on defining the industry.
After the first Attractions Africa Conference in 2014, international interest was piqued and, shortly after, the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) European section approached the event organisers to discuss the development of Southern Africa’s first attractions association. Executive Director of IAAPA Europe, Karen Staley, participated in the Attractions Africa 2015 Conference and soon after announced that IAAPA Europe and Middle East planned to incorporate Africa. She attended both the 2016 and 2017 conference, with the IAAPA Chair, Andreas Andersen.
