Respondents were divided. The majority (49.6%) said they believe South African tourism is too dependent on US arrivals, 36.8% said “No” and 13.7% were unsure.
SA’s ETA details revealed – what does this mean for arrivals?
South Africa’s new electronic travel authorisation (ETA) system is being billed as a “service delivery revolution” by Minister of Home Affairs Leon Schreiber. The digital platform – integrating facial recognition, biometrics and instant verification – is designed to replace all manual visa systems.
Tourism Minister Patricia de Lille has described it as a “game changer”, projecting that the ETA could add at least one million international arrivals every year and generate up to 100 000 jobs.
