While Johannesburg has been confirmed as the first African city to host the G20 Summit – taking place in November – a significant proportion of Tourism Update readers are of the opinion that Cape Town may be better suited as a host.
After some debate emerged about Johannesburg’s readiness to host the summit, we asked our readers to air their views on which of the two cities should host the event. Cape Town emerged as the most popular option, garnering 56% of the votes with the remaining 44% going to Johannesburg.
The G20 Summit will mark the culmination of South Africa’s year-long G20 presidency, which will see more than 100 major in-person meetings, attracting tens of thousands delegates, held across the country’s nine provinces.
