Kerry Hayes has been appointed to the position of Editor, Tourism Update (TU).
“Since she joined the Tourism Update team, Kerry has thrown herself into learning about the tourism sector and most importantly, making contacts with industry decision-makers. She has successfully been developing our expansion of East African content, and fits in wonderfully with a team that demands a lot of themselves and cherishes the tourism industry. She is very deserving of her promotion, and I wish her all the best,” says Anton Marsh, Managing Director of Now Media, and previous editor of Tourism Update.
Kerry has enjoyed, and excelled in, writing from an early age, with her first writing being published at the age of 13, and at age 17 winning a national essay competition that took her to London. She has an Honours degree in Marketing Communications, and has worked in the media industry for titles including Built, Hospitality, Avocado, and Sunday Times Home Weekly; and rose to the position of editor of SA Home Owner, which she served for six years.
She is a positive personality who enjoys challenges, trying new things, an active lifestyle, and who has a vibrant love of supercars.
“Tourism Update is a brand that is entrenched in the tourism industry across southern and East Africa,” says Hayes. “It is a brand that I have come to love deeply for its honest and authentic approach to relevant news, and its respect for stakeholders and players in the sector. The TU team is one of the most passionate and dedicated teams I have had the privilege to work with – my fellow journalists, and our sales and marketing teams. I look forward to taking our publication from strength to strength alongside my team, our advertisers, and our readers.”
“I would also like to welcome Catherine Bower, who has recently joined our team as a journalist. I wish her all the best serving this inspiring and passionate industry,” says Hayes.
