Mpumalanga sites closed temporarily

Along with several closures of camps and roads in Kruger National Park, specific tourism sites in Mpumalanga have temporarily closed following heavy rainfall with authorities citing safety concerns.

The Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency confirmed the temporary closure of Bourke’s Luck Potholes. In addition, The South African Forestry Company Limited (SAFCOL) announced the temporary closure of Lone Creek Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, Forest Falls and Mac Mac Pools in Sabie. The closures took effect from January 12 and will remain in place until further notice. SAFCOL said the decision was taken as a precautionary measure as current water levels are unsafe for public access.

Graskop Gorge Lift Co also announced the suspension of all activities from January 12-13 and confirmed the attraction will assess the situation today (January 14) to determine if the suspension should be extended or not.

Authorities have urged visitors to exercise caution, follow official guidance and avoid affected areas while heavy rainfall continues. Further updates will be communicated once conditions improve and sites are deemed safe to reopen.
