North Island in the Seychelles has announced its “transition to independent operations under family ownership”. In a media statement, North Island said: “This marks the start of a new chapter for the resort with a timeline of exciting enhancements.”
North Island joined the Marriott International portfolio properties through a franchise agreement under the brand’s ASMALLWORLD Hotel Collection in 2019. Prior to this, it was operated by Wilderness.
Mark Sterner, GM of North Island, said: “We feel it is time for us to chart our own course as we look towards the future of North Island.”
Part of this will be the launch of a “Your Menu, Your Venue, Your Time” concept paired with only a single rate.
North Island offers 10 villas of 450 square metres and one 2 750 square metre villa – all with direct beach access, plunge pools, open bathrooms and separate studies. It is located 27km northwest of Mahé with a range of water- and land-based activities from hiking and yoga to snorkelling and scuba diving.
