November arrivals just shy of pre-COVID

The 242 940 arrivals from overseas in South Africa during November 2025 were just 5 000 behind the number recorded for the same month in 2019 while overall recovery from pre-COVID levels edged up to over 91% between January and November.

Statistics South Africa’s latest International Tourism Report shows overseas arrivals were up by 14.4% compared with November 2024 – led by growth from the Middle East (+38.9%), Central and South America (+27.6%) and the largest source market region of Europe (+17.9%). Arrivals from North America (+1.6%) and Asia (+2.6%) were marginally up from 2024.

Year-on-year growth between January and November was led by the Middle East (+32%), Central and South America (+26.2%), Australasia (+24.6%) and Europe (+12.5%). North America and Asia recorded growth of 7.9% and 5.3% respectively.
