People on the move: Air Seychelles announces new senior appointments

Charles Johnson has been appointed Air Seychelles’ Chief Commercial Officer.

Air Seychelles has appointed Charles Johnson as Chief Commercial Officer, and Sandy Benoiton as Chief Operations Officer.

Johnson joins Air Seychelles from Hong Kong Express, where his responsibilities included the restructuring of the airline into a profitable regional carrier. Bringing a wealth of experience to the business, Johnson has worked with airlines in Asia, Australia and the Middle East.

Johnson will oversee the commercial aspect of Air Seychelles, including cargo and passenger sales, marketing, revenue management, and catering and alliances department.

Benoiton, an airline pilot, has worked with Air Seychelles for 18 years, having occupied several key positions in the flight operations department. Benoiton will be responsible for the general operations of Air Seychelles, including crew training, security, regulatory affairs, ground, flight, technical and cabin operations.

Najib Balala, Kenyan politician and the current Cabinet Secretary for Tourism, has revoked the appointment of Kenya Wildlife Services board boss, John Waithaka, as the chair of a taskforce evaluating the possibility of allowing Kenyans to consume game meat, reports Daily Nation (Kenya).

Balala has replaced Waithaka with Ben Ouma Okita, the Deputy Chair of the African Rhino Specialist Group and a board member of the Conservation Alliance of Kenya. Okita is also the monitoring head at Save the Elephants.

He will oversee the finalisation of the report and review of policy and legislative framework relating to consumptive wildlife utilisation.
