Seychelles has approved amendments to its Environment Protection (Tourism Environmental Sustainability Levy) Regulations.
Effective January 1, small accommodation establishments with less than 25 rooms are no longer subject to the levy in order to ease cost pressures on smaller operators and provide greater operational flexibility.
Additionally, the levy is charged per person per night and collected by tourism accommodation providers at:
- SCR75 (US$5.28) for medium-sized accommodation establishments (20-50 rooms)
- SCR100 (US$7.04) for large accommodation establishments (more than 50 rooms)
- SCR100 (US$7.04) for yachts and island resorts
The levy does not apply to citizens and residents of Seychelles, airline and yacht crew and children (12 years and younger).
