THE seventh bi-annual Africa GIS conference will be held at the Sandton Convention Centre in August 2005, which will be attended by one thousand delegates and highlight geo-information on the continent. Geo-information deals with across-the-board planning, from water and forestry resources to education and AIDS. The Geo-Information Society of South Africa (GISSA) is hosting the Pan-African meeting. Chairperson of the local GISSA organising committee, Chris Vlok, said that the conference will be an opportunity for African delegates who have a common interest in the capturing, management and application of geo-information data to interact with each other.
