Airlink will launch the first direct scheduled air service between Gqeberha (formerly Port Elizabeth) and Mbombela from November 16.
The airline will operate three return flights a week between Gqeberha and Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (MQP) on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays using a 44-seat Embraer ERJ140 aircraft. Bookings are now open.
Flights will depart Gqeberha at 11h30 and arrive at MQP at 13h20. The return service will leave MQP at 13h55 and arrive in Gqeberha at 15h35.
“This new route pairs the respective gateways to the Sunshine Coast/Garden Route with the Kruger National Park and its surrounding lodges and other attractions. For leisure travellers, it will cut travel time significantly, avoiding the need to connect via Johannesburg. It will also support business travel between the Eastern Cape and Mpumalanga’s economic and industrial hubs,” said Airlink CEO, de Villiers Engelbrecht.
