PROTEA Hotels has added the 20-room Protea Hotel Lusaka Safari Lodge in Zambia to its portfolio. Located 35 minutes from Lusaka, in a private game reserve, the hotel has been designed in a way that accentuates the feel of an African safari lodge through the use of thatch and gum poles which blend into its natural surroundings. Facilities include conference facilities for up to 40 delegates, satellite television, a curio shop featuring local Zambian African art and silver designer jewellery. The residents' cocktail bar is set overlooking the swimming pool and a waterhole. It also offers traditional African dinners in a boma-style setting. (Elizabeth Sheridan)
