FOREST Ferns - the first commercial producer of ferns to go public - has opened its Tsitiskamma doors to the public. Located approximately 12 kilometres from the Storms River Village, Forest Ferns is aimed largely at the tourist and conference market. It can cater for up to 50 people, facilities including specialised vehicles to transport guests from the main road to the farm; a nursery and display of the country's indigenous ferns; tours of its production facilities and packsheds; an interpretative laboratory, gift centre, and restaurant and conference facilities. Forest Ferns is owned by Frans and Meg Gerber who have been exporting about 29 different fern species to international destinations such as Holland, Germany, Belgium and Switzerland for many years.
