&Beyond launches nutrition programme for staff members

&Beyond has launched a nutrition programme for its staff. The initiative, called Food for Life, forms part of the group’s corporate social responsibility programme, Positive Health.

It is designed to encourage healthy eating among staff members and in the communities surrounding the group’s 40 African safari lodges and camps.

Staff work directly with the resident head chef at their respective lodges to devise and prepare a healthy recipe within a specified budget.

The programme also features annual regional ‘cook-offs’ during which entries will be evaluated by a panel of food and nutrition judges. The best recipes will be included in a Positive Health cookbook and will be incorporated into healthier menus in staff canteens at &Beyond lodges.

The winning Food for Life team will receive R4 000 to upgrade the staff canteen at their lodge and the head chef and canteen chef in the team will each receive R1 000.

Says Debbie Meyer, &Beyond CEO: “As a business we believe our responsibilities include not only the company, but also &Beyonders and the communities surrounding our lodges. Food for Life, is another practical initiative that will help staff members and communities to live healthier, motivated lives.”
