Boardwalk splashes out on Tourism Day

THE Boardwalk Casino and Entertainment World will be celebrating the diverse cultures of the Nelson Mandela Metro (Greater Port Elizabeth) in a day of non-stop free entertainment today (Friday). Celebrations start at 11h00 when the Khusakanya Tribal Dancers will lead a procession through The Boardwalk Casino and Entertainment World. They will be followed with performances by Indian, Chinese and Spanish dancers in The Boardwalk's Oriental Village. These shows will take place at various times during the day. Other activities include exhibitions of many of the exciting tourism developments and attractions in the Eastern Cape. "Visitors to The Boardwalk will be also able to learn more about our natural heritage in Bayworld Demonstrations," says the Eas'Capism.com tourism information centre's Salome Clack. Eas'Capism.com, which is at the beach-front entrance to The Boardwalk, will be giving away mystery prizes to visitors to the information centre. "Port Elizabeth is the eastern anchor to the Garden Route. We are also an entry point and a base for those wanting to explore the Eastern Cape's wilderness areas and parks. "Our goal on Tourism Day is to show the locals just how much we as a province have to offer - so they can help us encourage visitors to extend their stay, or to come back for a longer holiday," she says. Friday is also the first performance of a free magical laser show on The Boardwalk lakes. This free show is being held every hour on the hour from 19h00. (Miguel de Sousa)
