Cape Town is where it's at

THE Mother City is gearing up for an exciting summer, with the months of November and December packed with events - and thanks to efforts by Cape Metropolitan Tourism (CMT) - a number of festivals have been planned for the traditional high season. Some of the events include:
* The Cape Town International Film Festival which will take place from November 3-20 and showcase about 50 full-length and short films made locally and abroad. Screenings at the festival will include a wide variety of experimental and new films.
* The well-known Kirstenbosch Sunday Summer Concerts gets under way in December at the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens. The music performances will take place on Sunday evenings and last until March 2001.
* Annual Queer Costume Party taking place on December 2, and
* The turning on of the Adderley Street Christmas lights on December 16.
CMT says the festivals and activities planned will add value for visitors who are expected to flock to the city for the festive season.
