Cape Town to launch coffee route

COFFEE lovers can wake up and smell the best blends in Cape Town when the 8th Gourmet Festival launches the all new Cape Town Coffee Route during its annual culinary celebration from May 9-21. As a joint initiative with the City of Cape Town and the Central City Improvement District, the festival has invited a vast array of outlets, ranging from delis, fashion stores, coffee shops and retailers in the city centre and trendy Kloof Street area to become part of its latest innovation. "The Central City Improvement District has invested in this event to promote the CBD as a place where people can enjoy the sights and sounds in a safe environment, surrounded by the historical yet lively ambience that is the centre of Cape Town. This event will also highlight the coffee shop culture that is so prevalent in the city centre and further encourage people who live and work here, as well as those visiting, to enjoy the delights on offer at the myriad of coffee bars and sidewalk cafes," said Michael Farr, ceo of the Cape Town Partnership.
