CCTV installed

TWO highly visible closed circuit (CCTV) cameras were installed at Port Elizabeth's Donkin Reserve on Monday. The cameras will observe areas of the reserve on a 24-hour basis. Tourism Port Elizabeth spokesman, Stanford Slabbert, said the Boardwalk Casino and Entertainment World had sponsored the CCTV equipment. Chubb Electronic Security sponsored a security guard at the Donkin from last month to the end of this month and four other security companies will sponsor a new guard every two months to ensure security at the Donkin remains effective. Slabbert said the efforts to improve security came in the wake of the March stabbing of two Danish tourists at the reserve. He said an average of three tour buses visit the site on a daily basis.
