A NEW concept in restaurant guides, called 'ATE', will launch at Indaba and is a project by Cell C Rentals in conjunction with journalist, Gwynne Conlyn. Conlyn said that although people read printed restaurant guides, they don’t keep them at hand. 'ATE' is different because it is accessible from any cellphone or landline and guides callers to a suitable restaurant in their area when they dial 084 190 8888. Once the restaurant has been chosen, its telephone number will be sent immediately to the caller’s cellphone number via SMS. The project launches with a guide for Durban, as well as quick-start information on Johannesburg and Cape Town restaurants which are popular with tourist. “Travellers are often at a loss as to where to find good restaurants when they’re away from their home turf. We therefore believe our guide will have enormous appeal to both local and international travellers into and around the country,” said Conlyn. (Lucy Siebert)
