COMAIR Limited will take ownership of four new Boeing 737-300 aircraft, the first in May 2005 with the remaining three being brought into use during the course of the year. The cost of the new aircraft is R220m. The airline, the owner of kulula.com and an operator of a British Airways (BA) franchise in southern Africa, will use the new aircraft to serve BA’s domestic and regional routes. Managing director of Comair Limited, Piet van Hoven says the decision to purchase the aircraft was prompted by the strengthening rand and resulting favourable exchange rate, as well as indications that aircraft prices are recovering.
