PLANNED upgrades at Dar es Salaam’s Julius Nyerere International Airport have stalled until funding can be raised from investors.
Among the improvements envisaged for the airport are:
· The expansion of the existing Terminal 2 building
· The construction of a new Terminal 3 building
· The construction of a multi-storey car park
· The development of an airport hotel and shopping facilities.
Ramadhani Maleta, legal secretary of the Tanzanian Airports Authority, confirms no funding has been received or allocated for the projects. “We depend on investors who may be ready to work with us either through partnership, concession, joint venture or any other mode of public private partnership which will be beneficial to both parties.”
