Delayed opening for Singita's new lodge

THE hoped-for mid 2002 opening of Singita Private Game Reserve's new luxury lodge on a 15 000 hectare concession within the Kruger National Park, has been delayed.
Sales and Marketing manager, Lew Rood, told Travel Now that, although development continues on track, the new lodge - to have been named Singele - will now not open till the second half of 2002.
"We regret that at the moment we cannot give any more information, but there are a number of changes that will probably be needed to be made to the original plans to take into consideration the imminent results of an environmental impact study which is currently being carried out."
Rood said that there will be name changes - not only for the proposed new lodge but also for the group as a whole - and that Singita's management is still working on an acceptable marketing mix with which to incorporate the new property into its existing prestigious portfolio.
"Unfortunately I am having to go to ITB without any concrete information but will definitely have something prior to Indaba," he concluded.
