Edelweiss offers seasonal flights to CPT

The airline also recently announced the addition of Rio de Janeiro and Calgary to its route network, effective early next year.

Switzerland’s Edelweiss is again operating its seasonal flights to Cape Town.  From October until mid-May next year the airline offers a twice weekly non-stop service between the Mother City and Zurich using the Airbus A330-200.

“For the fifth year running we are taking up our seasonal schedule to what the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph reader survey terms the most beautiful and one of the most popular cities in the world,” says Edelweiss CEO, Bernd Bauer.

Since the completion of the long-haul fleet refurbishment, passengers will experience a significantly improved cabin.  Business class is equipped with lie-flat seats and a new in-flight entertainment system with 40cm screens. Economy max provides passengers with 15cm more leg-room and many other amenities. Economy class has also received a makeover with new seats and a new in-flight entertainment system that includes touch screens.

Over the next few years Edelweiss is set to expand its fleet to include an additional three long-haul Airbus A340s, an A330 and an A320 for its medium-haul network. By 2018, the airline’s fleet will consist of 12 aircraft.
