Elgin launches open wine weekends

The cellar doors of seventeen Elgin wine farms and estates are now open to wine lovers on the first weekend of every month, running until May next year.

Charmaine du Toit, Office Manager, Elgin Valley Tourism, says the farms and estates have decided to coordinate their weekend tasting times to accommodate visitors making the trip out to the Overberg. Known for its cool climate wines, Elgin is one of SA’s youngest wine regions with commercial wine production in the modern era starting only in 1985.

The participating estates are Almenkerk, Arumdale, Catherine Marshall, Elgin Ridge Organic Wines, Elgin Vintners, Hannay, Highlands Road, Iona, Lothian Vineyards, Mofam, Oak Valley, Oude Molen, Paul Cluver Wines, Shannon Vineyards, South Hill, Spioenkop and Winters Drift.
