Extensive refurbishment for Protea Hotel Marine

Port Elizabeth’s Protea Hotel Marine, situated on Port Elizabeth’s beachfront, is being refurbished over the next few months.

The project is expected to cost R28m and phases include redesign and development of rooms, public spaces and exterior. Development has already begun with the conversion of the seventh floor sky-roof venue to include 15 en-suite rooms.
Each of the standard rooms will be demolished, redesigned and upgraded. The exterior of the hotel will also be redone and painted to fit the new look and feel of the hotel. “For Protea Hotels to maintain its high standards that guests have become accustomed to, we believe in continual investment in our properties,” said Danny Bryer, Group Sales and Marketing Director for Protea Hospitality Group.

The refurbishment will take place during the week, between 08h00 and 17h00 and will be completed by the second week of December. “We apologise for any inconvenience that will be caused as a result of the refurbishment,” said Danie Smit, General Manager at Protea Hotel Marine. “Throughout the process, we will continue to provide the same level of quality and service that our guests have come to expect.”
