THE Western Cape Hotel and Spa, situated on the Arabella Country Estate near Hermanus, has launched its spa under a totally new brand developed by the Arabella South Africa group. The new newly-upgraded Altira Spa, launched earlier this week at a function held at the hotel, has boosted capacity from eight to 18 treatment rooms which the group's director of wellness, Rob Cowling says enables it to offer a wider variety of specialised treatments. Facilities include a hydrotherapy tub and hydrothermal capsule, fitness centre, Hammam Centre, Rassoul chamber, Turkish steam room, brine pool, Swedish sauna, plunge pool, sensation showers, jacuzzi and a Bellavista winter garden for relaxation. Apart from individual body and skincare treatments, guests have free access to all facilities. Two night, four night and six night spa and wellness packages have been devised, but packages are flexible and day visitor packages are also available. The second Altira Spa will open next year August in the Arabella Sheraton Grand Hotel in Cape Town, which is currently under construction. (Adéle Mackenzie)
