‘RESPONSIBLE Tourism’ is this year’s theme for the Hospitality Investment Conference Africa (HICA), to be held in Johannesburg from November 4-6.
The focus will be on responsible tourism as a means of creating better areas both for people to live in and visit. With its close ties to sustainable and green tourism, responsible tourism is about generating greater economic benefits for local people and enhancing host communities while minimising the negative economic, environmental and social impacts of tourism.
According to Mmatsatsi Marobe, ceo of the Tourism Business Council of South Africa, delegates will have the chance to discover how responsible tourism is good for business on all levels.
“Tourism is a commodity and a resource that must be protected. Responsible tourism is a global phenomenon which everyone in the hospitality industry needs to be aware of,” says Marobe.
