Hotel group takes in hospitality students

HOTEL management and marketing company, Gatsby International Hotels, have invited Horatio Hotel School to place hotel management students in all Gatsby International's properties in South Africa. Horatio Hospitality Management was established in 1997 by former hotelier and hospitality lecturer, Tio Moggee. The school had a humble beginning with only Moggee's passion for the hospitality industry as the driving force. Initially a 20-week course was registered with the Hosptsality Industry Training Board (HITB) but by the end of 1998 the school had to expand to accommodate more students. A second level was developed to accommodate the ongoing requirements of the hospitality industry which was duly accredited by Edutrain (College of Professional Management). The course consists of a 20-week induction programme followed by a 26 week completion period. "I only take on 80 students per year as I believe that each student deserves the very best of individual attention during their year at our hospitality management school,” says Moggee. The one year course covers front office, back of house, food & beverage, catering, housekeeping, human resources, marketing and accounting. "We are delighted to have Horatio Hotel School students placed with the hotels that we represent. The students are of extremely high calibre and the fact that they are trained on-site, hugely benefits both the student and the property", said Brandon Lourens, ceo of Gatsby International Hotels.
