THE Indaba Hotel - located at Fourways, Sandton - officially introduced its new 500-seater conference venue, the Kgotla Room, to the local travel trade last Friday when it hosted the monthly Travelbags lunch sponsored by Cathay Pacific Airways. This in recognition of the additional flight it will be adding to its Hong Kong - Jo'burg route next January. General manager of the Indaba Hotel and Conference Centre, Rob Mickel, said that the World Summit provided the city with an unprecedented opportunity to showcase its many facilities. The hotel accommodated a number of Soviet Heads of State and their delegations during their visit to the city. It also hosted, with ease, the high-profile Portfolio of Stakeholders weekend conference for 600 delegates by utilising the new Kgotla Room in tandem with the well established Injabula Room (that also accommodates 500 delegates) for its banqueting needs., In congratulating the Indaba on its impressive new conference and banqueting facility, Travelbags' chairman - Sheila Hair - reflecting her members' enthusiasm, said: "We can all be proud to be a part of this industry that is represented here today. I know that I can speak for everyone here when I say that we are privileged to be witnessing firsthand the commitment towards new and exciting tourism horizons in South Africa. These are represented by this magnificent new conference room; by the confidence of the management of the Indaba hotel in investing further in its future; by the confidence of Cathay Pacific in encouraging industry growth between South Africa and the Far East and, last but not least, to Travelbags that - having won the bid to host the prestigious International Federation of Women's Travel Organisation's 2004 World Congress - is also paving the way towards a future filled with opportunities."
